Q. What is the major cause of metal roof leaks?
A. Fastener backout is the biggest cause of metal roof leaks.
Q. What causes the fasteners to backout?
A. Thermal shock caused by temperature change results in metal roof panels to expand & contract. Holes elongate around the fasteners & back out. Also, UV's deteriorate washers, they dry out and crumble away leaving space under the fasteners.
Q. Is there a curing time for Kwik Seals ?
A. Instant high tack, with a full bond in 24 hours.
Q. Are Kwik Seals effected by UV's?
A. They are not effected by UV's as they are reflected by the aluminum surface.
Q. What is the most important part of having Kwik Seals adhere to the application surface?
A. A clean dry surface.
Q. What should be used to clean surface ?
A. TSP or any good harsh detergent. For small areas any quick drying solvent that leaves no residue such as Acetone.
Q. Do I need to buy over size fasteners when fasteners won't tighten?
A. No. Just seal the hole with a Seal & reuse the old fastener if usable, placing it as close to the original position that is not damaged.
Q. Will Kwik Seals work on lead head roof nails?
A. They will work on all roof fasteners. Always remove loose fasteners & reuse if possible.
Q. How long will Kwik Seals last?
A. They should last the life of the roof. They have been on the market for over 10 years with no failures. Should one occur, they will be replaced at no charge.
Q. Do Kwik Seal products have to be be painted?
A. No, but they will accept most any paint to match any surface.
Q. Will Seals stick under water?
A. Yes, but they require the surface to be clean. Apply sufficient pressure to dispel all water. Seals will stick to most clean flat surfaces. Always test before permanent application.
Q. I have leaking seams, how do I stop these leaks?
A. Apply Seam Tape, centered over seam.
Q. Will Kwik Seal material hold up under water?
A. It has been tested for water immersion with no delamination after 360 days.
